Should I feel special when there are billions of people?
Human life is a gift from God, life breathed into us by the divine creator. You are here on this planet because God desired you to be here, you should feel special. His plan is flawless, purposeful, and never changing. God knew your life story before creation itself and still chose for you to exist. If you are here, it means three things: God loves you, Jesus sacrificed himself for your salvation, and you have a purpose. Futility is a lack of perspective.
“Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?.” Matthew 6:26

Photographer’s Notes– Capturing ‘Futility’
I captured this image while on a completely separate photoshoot in Huntsville, Alabama. I was mesmerized by the look of despair on this man’s face as he aimlessly looked out over a city street. With the right angle of the concrete walls, I was able to draw the viewer’s eyes to the subject with strong leading lines using the rule of thirds.
From the beginning, it was his look of helplessness that captured my interest, and I took the image candidly. I only stood a few feet away, but his attention was elsewhere. I decided to display this image in monotone to accentuate the contrasts and details. It reminded me that any of us are only a decision or two away from complete despair; our current happiness is nothing short of a gift from God. Everyone should know that with God, you should feel special.
